The Lehigh Valley Railroad
March 19, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Join Schuyler County Historian, Gary Emerson, as he presents the history of the Lehigh Valley Railroad when it arrived in Odessa in the 1890s and helped the town grow as it fostered new businesses and provided needed services. It also brought an end to the steamboat lines on Seneca Lake. This presentation will reveal how the railroad was built, and how it changed the landscape and livelihood of the towns it touched along the eastern shore of Seneca Lake. Where now the route of the Lehigh Valley through Schuyler County is an empty path, it was once a bustling route carrying passengers and freight.
