CCC Camps in Schuyler County
During the Great Depression, the Civilian Conservation Corps was created to provide work to unemployed young men. Schuyler County had four CCC camps that worked to plant trees, promote soil conservation, and build parks for recreation. This presentation will use maps, photos, and newspaper articles to tell the interesting story of the CCC camps in Schuyler County, whose work can still be seen today. The CCC not only changed the landscape, but it changed the men who served as well.
